Donald Trump, speaking Friday night in Grand Rapids, Mich.:
When I heard they spent $7 million on the fireworks ... we sent them a nice verbal statement. We will offer you five cents on the dollar for the fireworks ... They never responded. I thought I could buy the fireworks cheap. Just like I do not want to buy an airplane for $4 billion.

The campaign had to have made a very substantial nonrefundable deposit that they forfeited. But the campaign money isn’t their own, so who cares?
I always thought the fireworks were their adolescent way of “giving the finger” to Trump, who’d have been able to see them from his election night perch. I am curious as to what made them cancel just a few nights before the election. Did they have a clue they’d actually lose??

Who knows. This might have been a public remark in order to emphasize the point that he’s not intending to overspend as president. Not really in earnest (he could have easily been magnanimous by offering to buy her out at face value). They could be re-wholesaled, I believe, for far better than that. Maybe some obscenely rich Rat would buy them just to have the very fireworks that Hillary was going to shoot off.
