We were interviewing people for his position. And he was one of the applicants. And so he showed up for the interview and he had Charlotte with him, Jay Fellers, a human resource manager at Lowes, told CNN affiliate KRBC.
Fellers said Charlotte who wears her own Lowes vest while on duty has been a hit with customers.

Good job Lowes
Glasses blurry.
Great story! I wish more big chains would do this. Don’t know how much longer his senior doggie will be on the job, but for however long, it’s just wonderful.
Is that dog a government union worker? :)
How is it he can work if he's disabled?
Our local Lowe's has an employee who is in a wheelchair.
Every time I see him I can't help but think to myself, "Is he collecting disability and a paycheck?"
Okay. Rip me to shreds. I'm prepared.
He’s NOT blind; a disabled vet due to a knee replacement and countless surgery’s. As to Charlotte’s vest, he made that for his dog. He could have been a seamstress.
Good for Lowe’s GOD bless them.
Didn't say he was.
I don’t believe one can collect full disability and hold a job. Regarding an employee in a wheelchair, I think it depends on the job the employee is hired to do. I suspect a wheelchair bound person could not do all the jobs at Lowes, could do some of them.
I guess it depends on what the meaning of “disabled” is.
A fair question.
I know nothing of this individual.
There are different levels of disability.
Are there malingers and phony’s?
Sadly, way too many.
And I have met some that make my blood boil.
Also there are many that get NOTHING, for a verity of reasons, some choose NOT to partake.
N.B. I receive a modest monthly rebate of my income tax, in the form of a VA disability check.
Also had full and gainful employment until retirement.
From the article: Instead of medications, I have Charlotte, he said.
Nothing more specific is said. PTSD? Anyway, your question might seem a bit harsh, but it's a fair one to ask as government money is involved. I'm betting this vet is legit.
But as we all know, too many folks who get disability benefits don't deserve it. And that leaves less money for those who really need it.
So yes, yours is a fair question. And unfortunately the article provides no answer. It could be that the man is disabled, but for some reason he is not getting disability checks. It could be that the man is partially disabled, and so is getting reduced checks.
Many possibilities here.
I think they deduct the amount of your paycheck from the disability.
He said he couldn’t stand sitting and staying at home.
Tex - these are honest questions. A lot of people are on a sliding scale of disability. They can work, maybe, some jobs but not others, or with some kind of accommodation, or only part-time. Every time you see a wheelchair ramp, think that it is our goal to enable as many people as possible, as much as possible to lead a normal life.
As for abusing disability, disability shouldn’t be an all or nothing thing. It too should feature a sliding scale. As to whether it does or not, I don’t know. But, now that we have a Republican Congress and a Republican President, I’m thinking we can make America great again. Maybe somebody who works part-time loses some disability, but still comes out ahead.
In 2016, a disabled worker getting Social Security Disability Insurance benefits (SSDI) can earn up to $1130 per month if not blind and $1820 per month if blind.

When my dad returned from the WWII/Korean, upon release he was asked about injuries...just a shrapnel scar on his throat. Nothing much there to warrant words. TPTB then stated you’re due for compensation, you will be unable to wear a necktie. And, thus, they made it so.
Waste appeared long before BO’B and his minions. Strange that, dad seldom wore a necktie. He actually disliked doing so. This gave him a life long excuse. :-)
I normally go to Home Depot which is a great company. If prices are close to the same I will now go to Lowes.
