Alabama will play Washington and Ohio State is set to face Clemson in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
The selection committee stayed with the same top four Sunday as it had going into championship weekend, leaving out No. 5 Penn State even though the Nittany Lions won the Big Ten title game and beat Ohio State earlier in the season.

Let the speculation begin.
As a Washington fan, I look forward to playing a great Alabama team.
Ohio State should be out. Penn State won the Big Ten and beat Ohio State.
Penn State’s only chance would have been if the committee held Washington’s non-conference schedule against them. But with Kent State, Pitt, and Temple then Penn State’s wasn’t a whole lot more challenging.
Bowl Committee Unfair to Child Molesters!!!!
They are represented, but the so-called Big-10, not by its Champion!

Ohio State was beaten by Penn State.
They were also beaten by Michigan but the poor calls by the refs allowed them to win in overtime.
I am a Clemson alum. I watch every game with my eyes half covered and breath held. They are taking years off my life.
Ping
They all won their conference games except Ohio State who lost to the Conference champs.
So much for confidences.....
Heh, heh. Sure glad they eliminated all that messy rankings controversy by instituting a playoff system.
This FBS CF is an absurd, subjective joke.
Return to the traditional bowl games for the various conference champs and forget the entire 'rankings' hoopla.
Committees as a rule are FUBAR, and this year's FBS is a perfect example .. the wetdream of libtard sportswriters.
And while we're at it > Trace McSorley for Heisman !
Until they actually come up with a real playoff system, and not some peoples opinions, then this is just another set of football games.........
You can’t hold Washington’s non-conference schedule against them when the SEC plays cup cakes in November. That’s an extra bye week, IMO. Pac-12 does not do that.
No more absurd than the NFL playoff system where a team with a losing record can make the playoffs while a team with a winning record sits home.
But that's a thread that's still a few weeks away.
Most fun team to watch this year, and I say that as a diehard Buckeyes fan.
But since you brung it up. If MLB can break from decades of tradition and institute inter-leauge play, The NFL should enter the 21st century and do away with Divisions and Conferences. NFL teams should be ranked 1st to 32nd with the top 4 teams receiving first-round byes in the playoffs and the next 8 teams making the playoffs. That way no team with a losing record gets into the playoffs and every team in the league faces each other every 2 years instead of 10 or 12 years in some cases.
But, like I said, that thread is still a few weeks away. But I might as well start warming up.
There’s a trouble-maker on every thread :-)
Ohio State knocked off more top ten teams than Penn State. Their resume is too string to ignore
