We are asking the question for real-life reasons; not being rhetorical.
There is a real 37 year old lady who was born with congenital defects that prevent her from ever driving a motor vehicle.
Yet she is highly intelligent, very good with mathematics and logic, writes great poetry, has experience proofreading documents for authors, has fast and accurate typing skills.
She has worked as a teacher's aid at the elementary level but housing was provided at the school and she didn't need to drive.
Now she is in a rural setting, too far to walk to a job.
She would like to do legitimate work on-line, but we have great skepticism about the availability of real jobs on the Internet.
Do any Freepers know of legitimate work that such a gal can to on-line?
Thanks,
John Leland 1789
He taught Science but I don’t know the exact certification. He graduated from Troy State Teacher’s College, now just Troy University.
He taught in Florida, Georgia and New Mexico. I guess they probably didn’t care which state you were certified in.
The more I think about it, I believe it was Ratheon.
Thanks to all thus far for the advice on finding legitimate on-line work. We will try to post something when she finds something. We appreciate the Freepers’ kind responses.
Thank you so kindly.
Very much appreciated by us.
Just wanted to say, this is a nice thing you’re doing for her. The resources on FR like 2DV and others are terrific, but few would ever think to ask on a site like this. Sure hope something great comes her way.
Cool site. Btw, I think that’s actually a Douglas SBD Dauntless dive bomber in the picture. The circular cutouts in the dive brakes are a dead giveaway.

there ARE legitimate online jobs doing medical coding and medical transcription; I’ve met several people who do that.
I have no idea how to find the legitimate ones vs. probably a lot of ones scam artists are out there scamming people with.
I know some people with autism who work on quality assurance online for the gaming industry. Also, some people can do voice work from home. That’s all I have known about. Though on writers’ web sites there are writing jobs, pages for pennies though.
I wonder how many quality jobs (with quality pay) are available remotely
At upwork.com (used to be elance.com), she can offer her services as a freelancer in any number of specialties, proofreading, copy editing, writing, etc.
There are plenty of jobs. She is going to have to get creative though. She is going to have to plan on how to do it She will be her own boss in other words.
Offer her services for a fee and whatever market price she wants to charge via her computer connection.
Right now there are people all over the world offering all types of services. Usually they will give you some basics for free as a selling point and then you pay them more for whatever skill set or service you need.
Send her this link to get ideas,
No.
The only way is to pound the pavement and meet clients face to face first. Establish trust on their facility the you can do some work from home.

I worked for Liveops for several years. Initially the pay was commensurate with the preparation (learning many very diverse scripts with many different ways of using their scripts takes time, no matter what) and time spent on line. However, the penalty for not taking calls when you had agreed to was very harsh though you could trade times with others if you had enough time to make the trade. Comcast outages finally were too frequent for me to continue with LiveOps and that seemed to be congruent with a marked decrease in the numbers of cents/minute talking. I have not missed LiveOps as the male callers were often extremely rude and their sexual talk was disturbing or the women from the East Coast who just screamed.
I too need a job and am disabled (MS) and working at home is perfect for me. I just think we who do this must be very careful so that we are not taken advantage of in our effort.
