Dolly Parton has announced plans to donate $1,000 per month to every family who lost their home in the wildfires sweeping through the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. The country music icon is helping the homeless families in need with the monthly donation for six months, until they get back on their feet.
Parton will make the donations through her Dollywood Foundation, reports the Knoxville News Sentinel, noting that the foundation plans to make more information available on Friday. According to the newspaper, more than 150 homes and businesses in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, have been destroyed.

Local news is reporting 10 dead now from the wildfires prayers ongoing for those families
I saw Dolly perform at a small venue about five years ago. She was so full of energy and put on a terrific show. She’s got a great sense of humor as well. Dollywood is a wholesome place for a family to take their children. I hope that it survived the fires.
Imagination Library is available to every TN child from birth through five years old. Here’s the sign up site to see if a particular address qualifies.

“I just wish she wouldnt have announced a couple weeks before the election that she was voting for Hillary.”
I can’t seem to find anywhere online that says she endorsed Hillary. At one point in July, the media claimed that she did, but when she heard about it she made a statement saying:
This morning while I was watching the news I saw many reports that I had endorsed Hillary Clinton. My comment about supporting a woman in the White House was taken out of context, she states, adding, I have not endorsed Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump. I try not to get political but if I am, I might as well just run myself cause Ive got the hair for it, its huge, and they could always use more boobs in the race. But seriously, I have not decided who Im voting for, but no matter what were gonna be suffering from PMS, Presidential Mood Swings.
Then at the end of August, when asked about the election, she stated:
Right now, I just dont know. Its just the greatest show on television right now, she said. Its just crazy. Right now, Im just not sure. Its just the biggest reality show out there, so I dont know where were gonna land but I think theyre both nuts.
If she endorsed ANY candidate, it seems that it was in private.
150 x 1000 x 12 = 1.8 million
Over the years Dolly has paid more grocery bills, bought more pairs of children’s glasses, winter coats, shoes, WalMart Layaways than any other singer. She does it all without a press announcement or a photographer to record the event. She truly has a heart of gold. That’s what comes from a sweet little girl born to a coal miner.
its not looking for study groups...
its just donating..period....
6 months, not 12.
She has sent thousands of books to poor children for many years to encourage literacy and love of reading.
Whatever happened to her cousin?
The wild one
God bless Dolly!
I read that Dolly’s house burned.
They know who the real victims are as they have been involved with them for a long time.
6 months..
I hope so, it really puts my family in the hole with no income and it takes time for UE to start.
Some one posted another fire had been set, not seen anything to prove it.
I’m not really surprised that Dolly probably voted for
Hillary & is probably a Democrat. Our folks all came from
Democrat enclaves from way back. - Dolly is just flat
wrong that we are not to speak out against stuff that is
an abomination to God in BOTH testaments of the Bible.
Perhaps Dolly is rich enough and old enough to do as she
pleases and doesn’t need the few pesos we might throw her
way. - FDR was my father’s commander in chief during WWII;
and it was hard to him to face reality like he had to
during the Carter fiasco. He did, though, and voted Reagan
just once. The Dems kept a steady drumbeat of villifica-
tion towards Reagan & he broke over and voted for the
Democrat second time around. - While I’m not going to
mistreat anybody; I’m still not going to excuse just any
ugly behavior that does harm people in its exercise. I
may pity them; but I’m not going to applaud them in their
perversion. - Dolly’s situation is not the same as mine
& the almighty dollar enters into a lot of her business
decisions. However, running her mouth about being a
Democrat might not serve her bottom line too well with
“rich” Republicans who make up at least half her
potential audience.
We’re OK. We’re 100 miles NE of Gatlinburg. But there are a dozen or more fires -— not extensions of the Gatlinburg blaze -— all over southern Appalachia. All we’ve got here is occasional slight smoke in the usual mist mix, and orangey sunrises and sunsets.
Death toll in Sevier County now at eleven.
Tennesseeans are not the kind to ‘get on the bus after the crash’, are they?
Glad to hear you aren’t in danger. Did you get rain? It rained on the fires here in NC.
We got some blessed rain, but not enough to lift us out of the drought dry woods danger zone.
I do thank God Washington County has been spared disaster.
So far.
