ELLA, Iowa — Officials with the Iowa State Patrol say three people were killed and two were injured when a pickup truck barreled through the front doors of the Wal-Mart in Pella Thursday morning.
The 911 call came in at 9:54 a.m. about a truck that drove through the meat and grocery area of the Wal-Mart. Officials say it appears the incident was not intentional. They are continuing the investigation and have not released the names of the victims.
The store is closed and people are being asked to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for Walmart released the following statement to Channel 13:
“We’re heartbroken by what appears to be a tragic accident.
Our focus right now is on our associates, customers and gathering information. We will continue working closely with law enforcement and emergency responders.”
Channel 13 has a crew on scene and will bring you more information as it becomes available.

I’d hold off on that, elderly people are sometimes prone to mistaking the gas for the brake, especially if they have peripheral neuropathy and have poor sensation in their feet.
Either an old fart that mixed up the throttle and brake pedals, or more likely a follower of Mad Mo.

Very nice Dutch town. Used to go to a B&B there with my first wife for special occasions. The bakeries are fantastic.

What a truly decent, clean prosperous community it appeared to be.

Yeah. Right. They were just trying to get to the meat counter before the ground round went off sale and the next thing they knew they were parked in the building...
Well, parking is limited this time of year.
