If I wore anything like that it was not my fault as I was just a kid.

From 1970 to 1980 was ages 15-25 for me so some of those ads were pointed at my age group but I can honestly say that I wore very little of those “fashions.” I also did not sport helmet hair, a porn stache, or a cod piece.

Makes me wonder what we’re doing today that people are going to make fun of in 40 years.

We wore bell bottoms all the time, and we bleached them ourselves, everyone wore them, they were cool, miss those days ...

My wife asked me to ware my old medallion from the 60’s recently. She could not believe I still had it! I pointed out it is the one piece of attire from that era that still fit.

By far the worst era in so many things; FEW of which caused mass fatalities or anything, but otherwise, simply deadly.
I thought the world was going to end in the 70’s.

These are snapshots from a range of 1970s adverts showing the most popular men's fashions of the day. Most of these are far from the "most popular men's fashions of the day". Maybe at Studio 54 or Warhol's studio. Nowhere else.

These photos and the site that compiles them has been prominent on the internet for years.
The DM is often guilty of derivative, lazy ‘journalism’ but now they are simply stealing.

I graduated high school in 1970, and my wardrobe was flannel shirts, t-shirts, blue jeans and harness boots - don't wear boots anymore, but the rest is still in place.
When I hit the full time workforce a few years later, the only guys wearing leisure suits were 10 years older than me.

I think most of those outfits have been seen on Star Trek - either as uniforms or casual wear.

The vest pants combination (the purple and brown/beige ensemble) look to be costumes in the Star Trek wardrobe.
And, the one with the jacket, from the closet of the late, James Brown.
Those shirts, slick and paisley were VERY much en vogue back in the 70’s; along with Hi-Karate and English Leather

Go look at the old photos in a school annuals from 1950-1975.
You will notice everyone dressed nicely for school photos. No one was ashamed of looking back at their old photos.
Then the Beatles became popular. Suddenly long hair was IN! Soon people also began dressing like clowns for the school annuals. Then many began to wear Afro style hair and bling(I’m talking white people!) Now they are ashamed to look back at their old clown photos and say...”Did I REALLY dress like that?”
Me? Plain western shirt and Levis or Wranglers with cowboy boots was the thing. Senior photo was with a suit an tie.
