No.
Special Olympics are for kids with Down Syndrome, not autism.
Kids with autism have no physical issues, nor are they intellectually challenged.
The kid should not be in the competition.
It’s analogous to Trans women (i.e. Men) competing in female sports and always winning.
Well, they should have decided that before they let him in the race. How awful for the poor kid. What a message to send.
Your post is about the most foolish thing that i have ever read on this forum.. And that is saying something.
You should take a few nights off.
“The kid should not be in the competition.”

Apparently the event organizers thought he should have or he wouldn’t been there. To be given a “participation ribbon” instead of the award he won is a slap in the kid’s face.
And you know this how?
That would be news to my son and all the other kids on the autism spectrum, who compete in Special Olympics.
What are you talking about???
Lots of kids on the autism spectrum have physical issues such as hypotonia, apraxia, etc. And many of them of intellectual / communications issues, too.
Well, they let him compete and sometimes kids do smash previous best records.
It happens.
If they let him compete, then he deserves the medal whether they like his time or not.
You don't know what you're talking about.
