The fists fly, a camera rolls and a security guard stands by watching.
Two women gang up on another. They punch her, grab her by the hair and tumble to the ground as she kicks one of her attackers in the stomach.
A security guard in the foreground stands and watches for 25 seconds before trying to break it up.
The video of the fight is on Facebook. It happened early Wednesday morning inside The Venetian hotel-casino.
Hotel guests like Anja Rusch want to know: why didn't that guard jump in sooner?
"I would feel unsecure because it means I could walk around. They could do something to me. It would just not matter. They are not doing their job," Rusch said.
Katja Kohler asks how could this have happened in the first place?
"You could walk around and something could happen to you and they would just walk around and stand there and just watch," said Kohler.
Another guard jumped in about 27 seconds into the fight and shouted: "Guys let go or you're getting sprayed!" She finally sprays the women to split them up.
13 Action News asked The Venetian why the guard waited so long before acting. A spokeswoman, in a statement, wrote "the security guard in the video followed protocol and the situation was resolved without injuries."
The man who posted the video said he works at a nightclub in a casino. He said it is standard procedure for security guards to wait for backup before trying to break up a fight.
Guests tell 13 Action News they feel safe at the hotel.

Have you ever tried to break up a fight by yourself? It’s very tough to do. If you grab one participant, you’ve set them up for the second participant to severely injure. You also run the risk of having both participants turn on you. I think he probably did what he was trained to do.
KEK!
What happened(fictionally) in Verona can happen as easily in Venezia...ask Romeo and Mercutio.
At first glance I read Venetian as Vatican.
:-)
“The security guard was just waiting for the clothes to come off.”
Cute song by Joe Nichols...

The fight didn’t break out in the casino, but in the hotel portion of the resort. Not only acceptable to photograph there, but encouraged.

If the guard tries to stop the fight without backup, the parties that were fighting would likely turn on the guard. This especially is likely if the officer is white and the combatants are of a different (same as each other) race.
It’s the same theory of a couple of cops trying to break up a domestic. Many times one of the partners, the one that is not being restrained, will attack the restrainer thinking they are “protecting” their partner from the “bad old cops.” And in a lot of those cases, alcohol may be involve effecting the judgement of the fighters. Never try to guess what a drunk violent person may do. The byline is, get help for backup. A chair, knife or gun in your back, is not healthy.

I like it!
Drinking? In a casino? Surely you jest!

Looks like a few hookers brawling for turf.
Worthless Security Guard.
I did too. Pope in brawl with Cardinals...
And it would be believable.
It could have been me at the Pai Gow tables. I was there last month and took a beating.
We have been to the Venetian too. I thought it was a pretty classy place! Guess not.
True but t counterproductive.
They haven’t cared for years now.
The place is classy...some of the people not so much.
I have run facilities that served alcohol. Sure makes people do funny things. Mostly brainless ones.
