Rescue goat suffering from Anxiety Only Calms Down in Her Duck Outfit
News4 San Antonio ^ | FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25TH 2016 | Victoria Price

Posted on 11/27/2016 2:24:16 PM PST by nickcarraway

Meet Polly, an adorable rescue goat who is blind and suffers from severe anxiety.

Her owner Leanne Lauricella rescued the baby goat and says Polly suffers from neurological problems.

Leanne said the baby goat would often run around and cry if she couldn't find her.

Her owner purchased the costume from a store for Halloween, not expecting it to have such a profound effect on her.

The duck costume helped Polly the goat go from anxious and stressed to all zen and chill.

There’s something about that duck costume that calms her.

As soon as I put it on her, she just instantly got calm. She goes into a little trance. She just closes her eyes and she’s out.

God gave us all the animals.

Some we use for food, and some we snuggle until their last breath, grieving when they are gone.

The moral imperative is to treat all of them with respect, giving as many as feasible comfort. Even those we may someday eat.

Anything less is not Christian.

Probably the same effect as a thunder shirt on dogs.

They were the sweetest, the most loving creatures

Essie's Cafe on Broad Street in Athens used to have barbequed goat on Fridays. Don't remember it being particularly sweet.

On this forum, I have witnessed abusive people jumping in to attack someone who they have absolutely no reason to attack other than to join in on a cyber gang rape abuse. You are one of those people.

I totally agree with what you said. No animal should ever have suffering inflicted upon it. There’s absolutely no reason for it.

Whaen my first wife (a child welfare social worker) and I took our ten year old son and his best friend (also 10) to a flea market up in North Alabama, the boys were told to meet back at the car in an hour and we would make further plans. I got back tot he car to find my son's friend sort of upset!

Seems my wife had come back tot he car to get her purse and told the boys she had seen the cutest little black kid and she was going back to purchase it. That boy knew what a child welfare social worker did and he was really perplexed!

Turns out the kid was purchased by someone else before my wife could get back with the purse! We explained the situation to the boys over hot dogs and cokes.

Have you ever put a costume on a cat? They will completely collapse and appear to have had a stroke. Maybe that is what the goat is doing.

Yes - I think it is called a thunder jacket.

I know someone who works with a hyper type person. A bunch of people in the group got together and bought the hyper guy a thunder jacket. LOL

All I can think of while reading this is that this particular goat should be the new mascot of the Democratic Party.

Snowflake or not, it just has me shaking my head!

We have 3 (4 before Ellie Mae died 2 years ago) that are 'loving' if they think you have a treat for them.

For non-goat 'owners', a treat is most anything you might be carrying or have set down within their reach: the mail, the newspaper, and cardboard box (especially if it has nails, screws or other small items to strew all over the area) bark off of your apple trees, dry leaves, sticks, any wood that is in their enclosure.

Tater chips, biscuits, bread, crackers, peanuts, hard as a rock old rolls, lasagna, beans, paper ID labels on Christmas storage containers...

Jack, Gracie and Casper can be QUITE pesky!

Jack, Casper (brothers), Ellie Mae and Gracie (sisters)

Yup.

Wife says, “You love them goats more than me!”

To which I reply, “Well; look how they greet me when I come home.”
