One unfortunate consequence of 99.9% of Lefties believing Trump had 0.000001% chance of winning is : For us Schadenfreudistas, it delayed all the way up until late on Election Night, those precious "Smell the Desperation" moments.
If polls had shown HRH HRC going down to defeat, the ever-more-desperate MSM would surely have concocted veritable multitudes of increasingly bizarre stories to sabotage Trump.
I invite anyone to speculate on what those might have looked like. Here are a few off the top of my head:
The press did their best to destroy Trump... more stories wouldn’t have helped. They’ve lost credibility. One in three citizens - or less - trust the MSM and my guess is most of those folks voted for Hillary.
I sincerely believe that the establishment and the globalists knew early-on that Trump had a good chance of winning the election asked on the mood of the Americsn people. That’s why the campaign of ridicule began so early and consistently in the campaign season. All the news that we heard within a few months of Trump announcing his candidacy through election night was meant to dispirit patriots and to diminish our participation in the election.
The MSM would have begun a “Bong Hits 4 Ballot Stuffing” campaign (free weed in exchange for voting). (Note that liberal doctrine holds that 100% of conservatives vote Republican in every election, but only 10% of liberals bother to vote Democrat; thus, they would be trying to increase liberal turnout.)
More conservatives would be attacked than what occured this year.
Liberals would have abolished the filibuster, killed Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito in addition to Scalia, and would have had SCOTUS rule that any restrictions on voting would be unconstitutional.
Illegals would be spread more strategically around the country, instead of packing them into California and the D.C.-Boston corridor.
The gave it their best shot.
One of their plays was to convince people that Trump had no shot.
If they had reversed that, it could have aided a Trump turnout.
They were caught between a rock and a hard place.
I suspect the internals that the Clintons could see showed them it was very close.
But their whole strategy was to paint Trump as “unqualified”. They had to play confident right down to the end to have a shot.
The only shot Hillary ever had both this year and in 2008, was having the media convince people that she was “inevitable”. Once she actually had to compete against another candidate, her veneer of inevitability crumbled, inevitably.
In my experience, the Lefties collect all the ammo they possibly can, prioritize them according to the damage they think each one can do, and lob them out of the depths at the chosen times.
What's entertaining are situations when the main battle is still far from over, but they've run out of all the ammo that made it above the cut-line, ie that barely passed the smell test. At that point they desperately scrape the bottom of the barrel, throwing at their target everything that remains down there, crossing their fingers that something, ANYthing will eventually stick to the target! And not cause an even worse backlash ... they hope.
I remember seeing that pattern at least as far back as the Anita Hill / Clarence Thomas Hearings (intentionally sarcastic use of font sizing). Near the end, Nina Totenberg was running around the halls outside the Senate Judiciary Committee, shocked that the Dems running the hearing were putting an end to it and forwarding the decision to the full Senate for a vote, even though they still had two Stop-The-Presses, Smoking-Gun witnesses who had not yet testified!! Yeah, right. Eventually I found out who those two were: "Smoking gun" my butt; they were the Stinking Trash bottom of the barrel.
A lot of my friends and coworkers voted 3rd party or didn’t vote because they thought she was a sure thing. Who knows what they would have done otherwise. I think the polls being off from reality may have actually helped Trump, maybe fired up Trump voters and relaxed Clinton voters. I don’t know. A lot of people I know who are sort of uninterested or naive about politics were shocked he won because the general narrative in the media was that she was going to.
Hillary’s people didn’t play the sexist card enough. They went after Trump, but they didn’t play up Hillary. The meme that Hillary cares about children didn’t work well since there was nothing behind it. “Hillary vows to do X to help children” was weak at best. They should have played the grandma angle since age wasn’t a concern.
What I would have done for Hillary is used the millions of miles traveled and shown her with children from around the world. Guess the overlooked that.
It seems to me that Hillary did not campaign much, because the more people saw her, the less they liked her.
How do you campaign if people can’t stand you? How could she have campaigned harder?
Wasn't there a story in the 2008 or 2012 election that every single precinct covering a wide swath of Philadelphia registered not a single GOP vote among them? I can believe somewhere in the high 90 percentiles, but to not see a single GOP vote out of 1000s cast is extremely suspicious. Not one closet Republican in the bunch? Not a single confused voter in all of those 1000s who mis-marked their ballot? Fraud plain & simple!
They lied, they cheated, they stole, they suborned, they sabotaged, they ridiculed...and when none of that worked, they packed the ballot boxes.
They just didn’t understand how much they had to pack those ballot boxes in order to give The Queen of Evil the election.
They did everything they had to, and they’re still doing it. I can’t imagine what more they could have done other than assassinate him BEFORE he was elected. It’s no secret that’s being advocated now. It isn’t even non-public.
The media attempt to discourage Trump voters from voting may have backfired and caused Hillary voters to be overconfident and stay home
“How do you campaign if people cant stand you?”
Bingo! The more she spoke the worse she did. She would probably have done better if she had just vanished
They thought they had it. They stayed home or went to parties. Trump’s base was energized. Nothing was going to stop them. For many, it was their second trip over the proverbial “broken glass.”
If they had taken the election seriously and went to the polls, they stood a much better chance of winning. If Hillary had campaigned as hard as Trump did, she might have stood a better chance.
Photos of children all over the world hugging Hillary and playing up the Gramma Clinton angle, eh? Yeah I can see how that could’ve helped her.
Everyone said the media was putting out biased polls showing Hillary ahead in order to help her.
Seems to have had the opposite effect of making them more lazy and complacent.
She didn’t find one thing to disagree with Obama on. With black turnout certain to go down, that was a bad strategy. How was she going to appeal to any new groups to make up for the lower black turnout that way? Not to mention Obama hadn’t done anything to brag about in the second term. A bunch of messed-up foreign policy and not one domestic accomplishment.
