Normally I would go to my only relative I talk to in the area, my cousin, but he's down in Williamsburg on vacation. So I am home alone, made a modest Thanksgiving dinner with a New Braunsfels smoked chicken (yum!), mashed potatoes, dressing and peas. I had a co-worker invite me over to his house if I wanted to, but I politely declined - I like the guy, he is a fellow Trump supporter in my department. But I am really not alone. I have all my FReeper buds keeping me company this holiday. And for that I give thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving! We are back from my moms now.
Bless your heart. I know what it is like. My family, my son is gone this Thanksgiving. But it’s OK. I really miss him but he is doing something important.
I’ll be seeing my parents down in Texas for Christmas.
From one loner to another, right back at ya, Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving DB!
From me and my family in East Texas to you, we hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving! You’re correct, you are NOT alone. We just finished our meal & are going to have pumpkin pie w/ whipped cream later. ; ). It sounds like you made a wonderful dinner. We had a couple coming to join us, but they had a family emergency, so they started on their 4 hour journey to Birmingham.
Enjoy your evening FRiend.
This is my first Thanksgiving alone in a long time. I enjoyed it immensely. I wouldn’t want to do it often, but this was a great relaxing day of home cooking, comfy clothes and no stress
Lord bless and keep you fellow Freeper
And to you! It really is amazing the changes in technology I have seen in my life. I never thought a computer would become a home appliance. I am listening to music streaming on my iPhone. I have a lovely 46 inch Samsung TV and am watching the Dallas/Washington football game and will switch over to streaming Vudu on the Star Trek movie I bought for five bucks with a sale and coupon combo. But I have have one constant through all those changes - FR for over 17 years.
Happy Thanksgiving! So much to be thankful for this year. Best to you.
And God bless you too, on this day where we give thanks for what we have. And on this day, for what we do not have. President-elect Hillary Clinton. I spent an hour on the phone talking to my mom about that bullet that we dodged.
I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving. I have been ill, and had not planned a Thanksgiving. I’ve been in/out of the hospital since Halloween due to a heart attack and complications. My grown children usually have many obligations, and so I told them to go on with their own plans. I ordered Domino’s pasta last night to have today. However, my oldest daughter came and fetched me to eat with her and the kids. It was very simple: We had a small turkey, mashed potatoes, green peas, garlic biscuits and that was that. Not even a dessert. It was delicious and the most I’d eaten all week.
Happy Thanksgiving, dirtboy. Agree, it’s hard to participate in someone else’s holiday traditions and not feel a bit like a fifth wheel.
I also am soloing on this day, and there is much for which to be thankful in solitude and reflection. For me, that includes remembering with a smile and a dose of wistfulness my late parents and other family & friends who have gone before. I imagine Thanksgiving is celebrated in Heaven, and they all are together and enjoying each others’ company, even through the inevitable squabbles and skirmishes.
God bless you.
You were alone? Lucky you! Much better than enduring a bunch of Trump bashing liberals.
We really do. I would be considered of very modest means in this country. But I feel rich compared to the rest of the world.
Aww, happy thanksgiving!!
Just laid low....
