Aircraft are maintenance heavy, they wouldn't last a few weeks past the apocalypse. It is getting a bit unrealistic for cars and gasoline to still be functional too. They'd better start getting more horses.
Maybe so but there are thousands of planes just sitting there. I’d take my chances on finding that 5 or 10 percent still totally airworthy.
I’d at least get out of Virginia headed west or to an island that has a runway. Clear out the zombies and watch your sick neighbors so they don’t do what Harry Potter did at the prison.
