In our area, I notice that the Hispanics and African Americans are the only ones who seem to really dress up for church; we see them sometimes in the grocery store, picking something up on the way home. Their little children are always dressed up, too.

I love to see the little Mexican and Central American girls in their chiffon-and-sequins princess dresses. Sometimes the little boys are in suits, too. (They go to the thrift stores or flea markets.)

I think it shows respect for the occasion and the other attendees. That’s one reason I wear address. Another reason is that’s comfortable! I don’t understand people who say dresses aren’t comfortable, unless they’re doing yardwork or at Scout camp (for which even I wear pants).

I use to watch a Black church service on TV. Nearly all the ladies wore beautiful hats. They dressed up more compared to my SBC and others I have been to. I often wondered how the people in seats behind the hatladies could see.
