My aunt used to buy preserves in tall glasses with scenes of historic Virginia buildings on them. Somehow ‘Old Dominion’ sticks in my mind as the name of the company. When they were empty, they made very nice iced-tea glasses.
I keep hoping to find some in thrift stores, but have never seen them.
I recall a collection of tall drinking glasses with the history of the presidents on them; red, white and blue; for some reason, I think roasted peanuts came in them; mom had the whole collection. When we dissolved her estate no one wanted them....where are you going to put all that stuff?
I'll bet I'm the only FReeper who still has her [worthless] Klondike Big Inch Land Co. deeds from Quaker cereals.
I would *fight* over them with my brother. Somehow we thought if we amassed enough of them, we'd have enough to at least stand on a square foot of land in the Yukon. The idea enthralled us ....Sargent Preston and his dog, Yukon King protecting the North country. My goodness. We fell, hook, line and sinker.
