The abuser gets 27 months and the loving dad gets 40 years? Its the judge who passed the sentence on the dad who should be in jail. Meanwhile, President Trump, want to score mega points? Here is a great place to first use your pen for a full and complete pardon of Dad.

Exactly. It’d be cool if he announced the pardon immediately after taking his oath of office.

I understand he didn’t want his daughter to re-live the ordeal, but I would want a jury of my peers to look at me during the trial and ask themselves if they would have done the same thing if it was one of their kids...

Well you can’t just go around killing people.
No matter how justified you decide their death to be.

Trump can’t pardon for a state conviction, but the governor could.

Reminds me of an associate at work I used to deal with. One of the nicest guys I ever met in my life. He warned his son in law to not abuse his daughter ever again after he found the SIL had a rough temper, and physically cut loose on his daughter multiple times beating her severely. The SIL did it again, and my associate/friend blew his head off with a .357. My associate/friend is still serving a life sentence for taking the bastard out.

Saw a video once of a guy accused of molesting a kid being brought to a prison by airplane. At the airport two cops were escorting the guy through the terminal and as he passed by the father he turn and put a bullet in the guy’s head.

I suspect there will be no pardon. At least not for 27 months. Might get parole instead of a pardon.

The President can only commute or pardon federal crimes.

Well, from what I can gather from the article:
1. perp abuses daughter - convicted in 2002 to 5 years. Serves 27 months.
2. daughter still suffers.
3. daughter says something to piss off dad
4. dad kills perp in 2014 (12 years after conviction)
sorry, but that goes beyond “effect” and I’m not sure how much sympathy a jury would have had ...

Maybe this father would have cooled off a little if the judge sentenced the scumbag molester to some serious time. Two and a half years is a joke for raping a child and destroying her life. I've never been arrested in my life but I could see myself killing this scumbag too.

Technically, he only got 20 years for killing the molester, the other 20 were for shooting at the guy dating his step-daughter before going on to kill the molester.

He should have gone to the jury and hoped for nullification.
I’d have voted “not guilty.”

I would have given the guy time served- even if he had never spent a day in jail.
I understand the guy has to be convicted, but this is just a tiny degree removed from self-defense.
To: Uncle Sam 911
I would have gladly engaged in nullification if I was on the Jury for this guys trial! Which is what needs to happen in these cases.. .he’s no threat to anyone else, his reaction was not beyond the expectation of any rational father.
No way I’d put him away for doing what a father should do.

“Brooks pleaded guilty in 2002 to sexually abusing Maynor’s young daughter. He served 27 months of a five-year sentence and paid restitution.”
The judge who sentenced him is the real cause of this situation. Setting perverts like that free leaves citizens with little option but to take it upon themselves to defend their children.
