ANOTHER NEWS FLASH FOR ROKU USERS
A new channel has been added at the ROKU 'store' The New Channel is
NOWHERE TV
And for all yous Red Green Show fans....take heed. The channel has this in it's vaults for you to enjoy.
"RED GREEN SHOW"! Glory be.
Happy viewing. Buy shares in popcorn!
I only caught the Red Green show once. I guess he had a regular feature “another use for duct tape”, the episode I saw was “How to fix the outhouse”. Hilarious.
That would depend on your TV. Most newer ones (and some older flat screens) have a USB port. That is all that is needed.
I don’t know that I would brag about “ living” it. LOL.
ROKU uses your computer’s ISP.
You will need high speed internet, broadband. We have a wireless router which is used by our computers. Our ROKU is hooked into our tee vee (Samsung- Smart TV) and we are then able to watch the shows on our tee vee in the comfort of our living room seated, sprawled on our easy chairs :)
The ROKU comes in several versions. The least expensive being $40 (ours) and with more features come the higher costs. Believe there are now 4 or 5 versions of ROKU on the market.
DH should have been a weatherman. He’d have the weather ‘channel’ tuned in and turned on 24/7 if he thought it possible. This will make it easier for viewing.
Of course, the tee vee will be of little use should storms prove severe. No power, no picture. :-/
I know, but I had to laugh. It still made sense just not the sense you want.
I still remember stumbling/surfing on to Red Green. The family had all gone to bed and I was surfing around about to give up. At first I was PO’d. I thought,”Here is some Hollywood jerk making fun of folks in flyover country.”. Pretty soon I was chuckling. Then he got out the duct tape. LOL.
Be careful! At the very bottom of the Nowhere man page is a small flame icon. Clicking that will install a porno channel on your Roku. (Or so I am told...)
“Roku doesn’t actually require any “membership.””
Hah! That’s how much I don’t know about it.
But, now that you mention it, my daughter does use one of the streaming services...Netflix, I believe. And, she explained exactly what you described...I’d just forgotten. Kind of neat though.
Thanks.
Thanks for the H/T. Time to use the ‘white out’
:-/ Don’t wish anyone to ‘burn’
Sure I have some recommendations for roku channels:
Of course the pay channels are the best for content - We do Hulu, Netflix, used to do Amazon but dropped it - some folks like it though. We do Sling to replace cable, and that is pay too, your other options are playstation vue, and in a month of so, direct tv will have an option there also as a cable-style option through roku. Even if you don’t like to pay for stuff, many will do a free preview, and you can add/drop them any time, so you can binge and then drop it.
As far as free stuff- youtube channel is a must have, you know what that is I’m sure. Lots of cable channels have streaming channels on roku - most of them you have to have a cable account to access - A&E and history channel are two note-able exceptions. You can watch a ton of shows on both of those for free, but they do show ads - but not that many.
Sky news and CBS channels are the decent for 24/7 news, and I think CNN international has an option there. I tried the foxnews channel, but it was mainly audio when I tried it.
Pluto TV is a great channel - it has a few international news options, but also some other interesting channels like kickboxing and some comedy stuff, it lets you browse like cable, it has a good interface. Crackle is another good free channel, some decent content there.
google free roku channels and you might find some more options. If I think of more, I will post. Cheers.
I went to “search channels” on my Roku page and entered “nowhere”, but all I got is “Nowhere Cast” (.99/mo) and “Nowhere Headlines” (Buy .99). Don’t see anything that says “Nowhere TV”.
I love PlayOn and the One Channel plugin.
Almost any movie/TV show you can think of.
Also, there are a couple of Plex channels well worth getting: “Let Me Watch This” and “SS-Plex”. They both have TV shows and movies (old through VERY current) showing.
Tremendous choice! When I can’t find it on NetFlix or Amazon, I’ll go searching on one of those.
Thanks for these little updates/blurbs.
We cut the cord years ago and with Roku, Plex, XTV and the various plugins/channels available there, we can find nearly anything we can think of.
We were just re-watching “Due South” a couple of nights ago. Then, we got to watching “F Troop” for the heck of it.
Such fun! (”Miranda” reference)
:-)
Continue to look for the British “Absolutely Fabulous”. Perhaps one day soon we’ll find a broadcast XX (fingers crossed)
Roku 4 has digital output(optical) for your surround sound system.
Roku introduced a new product line a few weeks ago..the least expensive model is the Roku Express at $29.00. Check it out at www.roku.com These new models are available on Amazon too.
Need one of those solar/crank radios.
HDMI, not USB
Ours allows us to search and watch anything on YouTube, as well as the various stations.
