AA is not a state-run program. Good luck with that. It’s that whole “freedom of association” thingy. Its Canada. The maggots have dined even longer on their society than they have the USA's. Don't be surprised what the Government or courts there will allow.

A good number of AA meetings are in churches. I suppose ghe lawsuit seeks to move the meetings to the nearest Wholefoods.
