My PhD Dissertation was how Martin Heidegger has replaced John Dewey as the primary influence upon US educational philosophy. I agree he is overrated but a lot of that is actually confusing Dewey with Martin Heidegger. Heidegger was an actual NAZI in charge of the Nazification of German schools. Heidegger and Dewey used the same terms but with different definitions. Due to sloppy usage a lot of US educators think they are following Dewey when they are following the man who invented Post-Modernism and was a card carrying NAZI. The conclusion of the dissertation was that many of the issues in US education are actually caused by bad philosophy.
Since I’ve read everything the guy wrote and disagree with much of it - it is a good place for me to argue with other egg-heads
Crazy education theories, from Rousseau to Summerhill, all complete FAILURES and now COMMIE CORE, have all had a hand in ruining our system!
Since nobody else is probably interested in this discussion, especially NOT on a thread about baseball, should you be inclined to discuss this topic with me, I suggest that we do do in FRmail. :-)
