NATICK (CBS) — A group of thieves stole over $13,000 in iPhones from the Apple store in the Natick Mall in a “flash mob” robbery.
Natick Police Lt. Cara Rossi said a group of seven teens were only in the store for less than one minute, but were able to steal 19 phones.
In the video below, the thieves can be seen cutting the security cords that tethered the iPhones to their displays all at the same time.

In MA, any theft over $250 is Grand Larceny, making it a felony. These numb nuts could face years in prison for stealing phones which, A. can be “bricked” to make them useless, and B. have a built in GPS tracking device.
It is like choosing the most stupid thing one might choose to steal. It has no value to fence and it broadcasts your current location.
If they're not from Boston (about 15 miles away) they're probably from a small area that's only 2 or 3 miles away...populated by Brazilians whose paperwork isn't entirely in order...if ya catch my drift.
Basically,Natick Mall is well known in Greater Boston as being where the rich go to shop.So it would be logical to see it as a target for any crook.
Better: the devices “brick” when removed from the store’s Wi-Fi network, and likely send location & photos until the battery dies.
It’s effective enough that Apple is actually removing all physical security tethers from all devices in the store.
Hopefully Apple can kill all phones reported stolen. Though if the phone is IDed by an added Simms card this may not be possible.
