Gandhi was successful against the British. Would he have fared as well against Stalin, Mao, or ISIS?

Gandhi succeeded because (so I have read) that the British really wanted to unload India anyway eventually, and also a fellow named Subash Rao (or Ray, variations of same name IIRC), had a makeshift army - many Indians had been soldiers - ready to roll.

We already know that is not the case. But then they become exposed for what they really are. No more illusions for leftists to hide behind. Do you think that many would remain leftist when shown the reality of who it is they support?
