The death knell has tolled for the Big Mac. Only one in five millennials, aged 18 to 34, has ever tried or knows what a Big Mac tastes like, according to The Wall Street Journal.

You mean Dave Thomas with his paper-thin burger patties?
I can’t blame McD’s for that, that’s where they are... whites for the most part have abandoned it, as the quality has fallen.
As to staffing, its hard to get a white kid to work for minimum wage in a lot of the country.. and if you can get one in the door, they won’t stick it out, because the work ethic of the most of the rest of the staff will often see them picking up the slack and they’ll get tired of it and move on.
I started out in McD’s back in the late 80s in High School, I walk into the same store today, and am amazed how far the chain has fallen. However, that McD’s is in a suburban neighborhood, mostly white, but staffed with mostly minority... I go to another one closer to my office in a mostly urban neighborhood, and the service and quality is vastly superior on the inner city store, surprisingly. The inner city store clearly has better management from top to bottom, and in spite of being located in a “lower” socioeconomic community, they clearly expect and demand better from their employees and get it.
But one chain that just needs a reboot from top to bottom is BK... their service and quality are so bloody inconsistent you literally have no idea what you are walking into when you visit one of their stores.
It’s almost like its a TOO BIG TO FAIL operation, it should collapse under its own ineptitude, at least my experience in most of their stores... but they are just so big and have so much momentum they keep on trucking in spite of the incompetence. Now don’t get me wrong, I have been in some very well run BK’s, but its clearly the exception, not the rule.
Wendy’s is the best national burger chain generally speaking for quality and service.
Chick Fil A however is the Gold Standard for both in a national quick service chain. I have never once had a bad experience in any Chick-Fil-A I have been to, either in service, or quality or cleanliness.
The Big Mac was invented by James Delgatti, the original Pittsburgh McDonalds franchisee. My grandfather knew him.
They did, recently. It was called the Grande Mac. Tasty.
Whataburger here in Texas is good.

Yes, Whataburger, in and out, Jack in the box... but I don’t call them national chains, because they are not really nation wide, but regional..
There are basically 4 quick service burger chains that are national in the US.
McD’s, BK, Wendy’s and Hardee’s/Carl’s JR.
The others are regional.
The fact that you were born with “canine” teeth means you were born to eat meat.
It’s kind of the worst of all possible worlds. Very little juicy meat, 46 grams carbs (sugared bun & that middle bun, the sweet sauce).
A quarter pounder with cheese is the exact calorie count (550) but drops to 42 grams of carbs, picking up the balance with more meat.
The real indulgence is the double quarter pounder with cheese ... 200 more calories of protein and fat, but not a single more carb, and usually cooked to order to boot. Skip the fries and have it with a diet coke and it’s basically virtuous unless you are on a low-salt diet.
Surprising. I had always heard they went well with Pot.
Big Boy still does a good job. Super Big Boy (no bun for me) and salad bar and I’m all set.
I need to have one every so often, maybe every two months or so.
The only sandwich of theirs’ I can stomach now is the Filet-o-Fish.
Portlandia, ping!
We’ve got all of the fast food burger joints in our town, including Freddie’s, and a soon-to-open Five Guys.
But the best service, cleanest, best fries, and best burgers (IMHO) are found at the local Dairy Queen.
In SoCal, home of burger joints, there are so many better alternatives.
In N Out being just one example.
We have a local place that I describe as being like 5 Guys, only they have beer and wine, and Bell’s Oberon is usually one of the beer choices. And they have outside seating.
How can you beat that!?
I never liked the Big Mac back in the day, I was a Quarter Pounder guy. But I bet I haven’t had one in two decades.
Quarter pounder cheese is much better than Big Mac!!!’
Mayo, mustard and catsup. Or maybe some bodily fluids if your melanin content varies from the preparer...
Scratch that last; it was mean and uncalled for. Besides, Jesse Jackson is no longer working in food service.
