Anyone who thinks that the police - at least at the federal level - are on the side of the people or of liberty need to think again.

When gun control emerged as an issue in this country after the political assassinations of the 1960’s, a lot of signs and bumper stickers sprouted up around the country.

“Support Your Local Sheriff”

Back then there was hope for local police and maybe there still is to stand against the federal leviathan.

That’s hard to see with their coordination in situations like the Oregon protest.

Down in Venezuela with opponents in control of local governments and police were supportive of anti-government protests.

Back in the days of Hugo Chavez’s rule a dozen or so years ago (Maduro starving his country to a slow death now) the National Guard (police) were sent around to take all tactical weapons away from local police departments.

They were left with their pistols to face the drug traffickers.
