True.
Bullet - French boulet, little ball, which would have been the term for medieval sling ammunition.
The actual Roman Latin term was probably glans, or acorn.
Yes, thats the same source for the term for the end-part of the male member.

The whistling ones might have been used for signaling. They also used to put little sayings on the big bullets, like ‘take that’ and so on.
