Ammon Bundy carried a worn Bible to the witness stand Tuesday and portrayed himself as a weak underdog pitted against a powerful federal government that has tied to crush his family.....
Bundy told jurors that his family has grazed cattle at their ranch near Bunkerville, Nevada since they homesteaded in the 1870's....
his family faced a "tremendous amount of abuse" for trying "to protect these grazing rights....
"We can't do it against these people. They're too smart. They're too strong. We can't fight them. Now they're prosecuting us...My dad and brothers are in jail now, every single one of them. It's wrong," Bundy said, tears filling his eyes....
he initially resisted his father's push in the summer and fall of 2015 to get involved in the case of Harney County ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and Steven Hammond....
Ammon Bundy said he had a change of heart....
Of his visit with Steven Hammond, Bundy said, "I began to understand he was pretty tired of fighting and he was pretty much broken emotionally...He was just going to take what was given."
Bundy's lawyer, Marcus Mumford, asked his client how he responded to Seven Hammond's position.
"I didn't understand until I spent 8 and a half months in prison, how he felt," Bundy said....
As he remained on the witness stand, Bundy's attorney played for jurors clips of video from the 2014 standoff in Bunkerville. They captured a woman Ammon identified as "Aunt Margaret" getting thrown to the ground by a federal officer after she stood briefly in front of a government vehicle and then Ammon Bundy getting shot with a stun gun three times after he parked his four-wheeler in front of a government dump truck.....
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ethan Knight earlier has objected to the videos being presented to jurors...

Hpoefully, the jurors will realize that next time, they might have to testify on their own behalf when the government is trying to destroy their way of life, and vote accordingly.
"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
But as I understand it, all this burning and grazing has been going on for many, many years, which ... if so ..... what's so special about NOW being a time to prosecute something that has been part of ranch life forever ?
This wasn’t a part of ranch life—the Bundys contracted to use public lands, paid sometimes, then quit, yet kept using the lands. If they didn’t want to pay, they should have vacated so other paying ranchers could use the lands. And the Hammonds, yes, poaching is not new, but the laws are in place and eventually everyone faces justice.
He doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But he does remind us that not everyone who serves is a patriot or even a good guy.
Everyone?
As soon as he takes office Trump needs to pardon the Hammond’s and the Bundy’s.
Except, so far, the Clintons. /s
He carries a copy of the Constitution of the United States of America in his pocket.
Which laws do you follow?
OSP/FBI wishes that both vehicles would have sped off. That way they would have had justification to kill everyone.
EVEN that rat bastard son-of-a-bitch Mark McConnell that was paid by the FBI to set Bundy up.
For taking an armed stance against the government, the body count sure was low. Exaclty who was doing all the shooting?
I'd prefer chatting about the election but love the opportunity to tweak the noses of these militia crazies that, like BLM and others, wants to thumb their noses at the goverment, laws, and order, yet want the protections offered by them. Well, too bad, deal with it. Now, can we get back to Kaine's debacle? Wasn't that extrodinary--a homosexual, pervert VP candidate that is shrill, rude, and totally unlikeable and discredited? Kaine should give everyone pause as he is not presidential material.
Things change as life progresses. As a youngester I remember people in our part of the country
that ran cattle on open range land. I helped in the roundups, moving cattle from location to
location, branding, etc. but those days are gone. Land has changed hands, people have put up
fences, land has been divided into smaller plots for residential use, etc. So things change and
ultimately the Bundy’s way of life will change whether they like it or not.
This is not an election thread and will not be hijacked by the likes of you.
You throw this situation into the domestic terrorist camp, which it is not, or even a Sovereign Citizen issue which it definitely is not and you obviously haven’t a clue about.
Tell me how you will thumb your nose at them when they charge and sentence you TWICE for the same crime.
Tell me how many Black Lives Matters goons have been shot and killed trying to get to a legitimate law enforcement officer to peacefully mediate their situation.
Tell me what you will do when the government wants to forceably remove you and your possessions that you make your livelihood with from property your ancestors sweat and paid cash money to the govt for in a deal that has been reneged on by that same govt on more than several occasions.
Please, tell me.
Yawn, whatever. These guys are where they belong, you should get a life and move on. And I am sure you don’t want politics here as even Trump said much the same. These guys raised arms against the US and they now face the consequences.
And THATS shows exactly how much you care about the laws your government chooses to enforce.
Cancelling your predecessors Executive Orders is standard practice for an incoming President. Making the nation right and whole again may take more than just that.
You can't condemn Bundy for breaking the law while at the same time giving Clinton and Obama a free ride. Likewise you can't condemn Clinton and Obama for their actions and say what Bundy did was just fine. Not without a fair amount of hypocrisy.
It’ll be a good start and if Mr Negotiator is THAT good, he’ll get both sides to agree to some GOOD legislation.
You have to remember that for the Democrats and a fair number of Republicans, "winning" means giving a President Trump nothing. So no, Mr. Negotiator will get no deals out of Congress, and nothing he considers "GOOD legislation" will go anywhere without a lot of fighting.
