My grandfather was born in a cabbage patch in Yugoslavia. His mom was picking cabbage, had the baby, wrapped him up and kept picking cabbage.

Obviously, not a HOME remedy.
That is how it was in the 1970s when I gave birth to my 4.
Pretty much the same as with standard deliveries. (The whisking may be just across the room, depending on the hospital and the baby's condition).
Knowing what comes out of a newborn's business end, I didn't ever think "skin to skin" was something I needed right then.
I thought about having a home birth for my 6th one, but I realized my family would be expecting me to clean up afterward, start the laundry, and get a meal on the table. At least, in the hospital, they changed the linens and brought me food, and I had to diaper only one child for a couple of days.
Where else are you going to put the ice and the beer for hubby?
Do you have a cordless drill and a good set of bits handy, I can walk you through it. LOL

I remember the last time I cried, it was at 0805 in the morning on September 15, 2013, I was looking at my minutes old baby daughter in a Thailand Hospital.
My wife spent 3 nights in a private VIP room after her cesarean and then I got the bill (I had no insurance), it came to about $200 on top of the $250 I already paid the doctor. I was more than happy to pay.
However, I will admit the hospital was not as modern as what I had in USA.
