Aldi, in suburban IL has a policy at the “10 Items or Less” express lane.

Once they check 10 items, they inform the customer that they need to go to the back of the Express Lane to check the rest of their items.

Me likey!

What is the definition of an ‘item’? If you have two apples in a single bag, is that one item or two items?

I've thought about a 20% surcharge on the most expensive items if you break the limit. Automatically computed regardless of which item scanned first or last. One item over limit? 20% surcharge on the single most expensive item purchased. 2 over? Next most expensive item, etc...

Post it. Store policy. Proceeds go to charity.
