I have had several recent conversation with a close relative concerning Donald Trump's periodic drifts off message and into the tall grass of issues about which, to use my relative's colorful phrase in those calls, "Nobody gives a shit", the rotund Miss Universe contestant being the most recent. During our "chat", she asked me a number of times "Does Trump listen to ANYBODY?"
We had another very animated conversation today during which she informed me that a number of her friends who had not been crazy about Trump but had come to hate Hillary to the point where they WILL vote for Trump. But his recent trips into the weeds -- and the 3am Tweets -- has got them reconsidering their support. While they are mostly well educated and thinking people of long-standing conservative persuasion, they are "uncomfortable" with his recent activities. Several of them -- clearly not sufficiently mindful of the existential nature of the Hillary threat, are thinking about either not voting or -- HORRORS -- voting for HER!
I AM -- and you on this list are -- fully aware of the threat. 4 or 8 years of Clinton will end with 30 to 40 MILLION ILLEGAL DEMOCRATS on the voter rolls and America -- the IDEA and the country we knew and loved -- will either be gone forever or will require a bloody revolution that will make the events begun on Lexington Green in 1775 look like a walk in the park to TRY to get her back!
OK, cutting to the chase: Yesterday, presumptuous me posted this to the monitored "Trump for President" FB page. The admin posted it, probably indicating that he/she shared my concerns:
"Dear Donald, We LOVE you, man. But PLEASE do us ALL a favor and PLLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE stow your EGO in these next public appearances. We have a country to save and we desperately need you --our LAST HOPE to turn this thing around -- to NOT allow Clinton to get under your skin. Settle down...PLEASE!!!!!"
Why this vanity post? The concept of "6 degrees of separation" MAY allow us to reach someone who knows someone who....you get the idea...who knows Trump and to whom The Donald WILL listen! And if enough of us hit the social media sites with our concerns it might get to our guy.
Please pass it along. Who knows? Hey, it could happen!
I agree. In particular, think his tweeting in the middle of the night is turning people off big time.
The man who won the primaries is the man who is running now.
For decades, we’ve bemoaned candidates that “tack to the left” during the campaign and leave their base behind—IF they win.
We have the candidate we’ve always dreamed about: who said all the right things during the primary and is not backing down during the campaign.
Do we want the Donald we nominated to be the Donald that campaigns, too? Or don’t we?
If folks want another crooked Democrat in the White House and a status-quo of steady erosion of liberty and quality of life—and one with a quarter-century’s worth of advance warning—all they have to do is vote for her or one of the also-rans. Or simply stay home.
Trump has done a good job of being Trump. Butting-in and all.
Trump is just giving the pseudo-debate what it has been giving him.
