He’s lived in an embassy for five years? why Ecuador? Who pays for his living expenses?
How big is an embassy? Isn’t that kind of confining? Can he EVER leave?
You cant live in an embassy without an invitation from the embassy’s country, so he’s likely a guest of Ecuador.
No, he might be in there for the rest of his life or until they get him.
He was being sought for extradition to Sweden, and was seeking political asylum in Ecuador, I assume due to lack of extradition treaties with Sweden. I believe Ecuador wanted to give him asylum, but the UK decided to hand him back to Sweden. So if he leaves the embassy, the UK will arrest him.
He’s pretty much stuck there until either Sweden or the UK decides they don’t want him arrested, or until he decides getting arrested is preferable to living in the embassy. There isn’t much chance of him being smuggled out.
“How big is an embassy?”
It’s just one section of a building. It looks like the building is Colombia’s embassy, and that Ecuador rents just a part of it.

Leave? He can check out anytime he wants but he can never leave.
