I sold a car through them about 8 years back and a few other nick-necks here and there. If you ship make sure that you have proof of receipt signed for to show proof of delivery. eBay made a number of changes a few years back that made it easier for buyers to get their moneys refunded with little to no proof of a failure to receive...it’s caused some sellers a fair amount of grief.
That being said Paypal is still the easiest way. Wouldn’t sell to a buyer without ratings so check to see if they have had problems in the past - if little to no history or newly created accounts then I’d probably not sell unless it is for a limited value (for me under $50). Just my opinion on this. Also make sure you wipe the phone by reinitializing it completely after deleting everything from it.
A friend of mine used to sell on eBay a lot. He got so tired of stuff like what you mentioned that he simply stopped doing it. At all.
He now sells through product specific hobbyist sites.
I parted out a motorcycle there about 14 years ago. Nowadays, I do all selling locally. I don’t ship anything. It’s all personal. Period.
