A draw. No major knockout on either side. Trump stood up for himself when necessary. I don't think it will move the needle, and Krauthammer made a good observation: Draws usually go to the challenger, and that is Donald Trump.
If I were to advise Trump, it would consist of the following:
1) Complete your sentences. You are giving the audience too much credit for figuring out what you mean when you shoot off two or three words.
2) Stop repeating the same point 5 or 6 times. You are wasting time.
3) Speak less to broad concepts and more to the common man.
4) Affability matters. Reagan won on affability. Smile a little more, but not with that forced weird smile Hillary plastered on most of the debate. Also, an affable Reaganesque "There you go again"-style phrase, queued up and ready to go when appropriate, would work wonders.
5) Next time, don't leave those hanging slow pitches unswatted. For example, when Hillary talks about your charity, mention her Clinton Foundation that only gives out 6% of it's money to charitable works. Also, speak more about how Hillary is the DC Establishment, and you are there to challenge that. Many people will identify that as a key takeaway.
On the whole I give Hillary high marks, and Trump close but not as good. Stylistically Hillary did very well, but in content Trump nailed it a few times.
However, he needs to take a reality check and prepare more in a structured debate setting. Obama had a HORRIBLE first debate and came back strong. Trump wasnt horrible, but he needs to come back strong. I know he can do it.
DONALD TRUMP won the debate in the spin room. Reporters were eager to get sound bites on his opinions, and TRUMP took the opportunity to give his own take on his performance and HILLARY’S comments.
I’m disappointed that illary did not have a full blown TIA on camera while telling one of her lies, but there are two more chances ...
The height of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect the results to change. Hillary is a prime example of continuing to do the same thing. The country does not want that, which is why Trump will win.
I was thinking that but now I think Trump won. Hillary shot her bolt and dumped the files on Trump. There’s nothing left. Trump didn’t even touch a lot of issues.
I agree. I do want him to stop repeating the same points though. Twice is enough. You waste time and then you forget to mention the Clinton Foundation. :)
Clinton will drone on with nothing new to say in the next debate and has to have the media moderators to back her up as her personal attack dogs. That schtick is already stale.
Voters can see right through the Clinton- Media farce. The polls are already reflecting this tonight.
After you win a GOP primary maybe you can give Trump advice. Disagree with all your points. Trump hammers down repeatedly a few key points to drive his message.
Can you remember any of Hillary’s plans?
Can you say what her campaign is about?
You sound like Tom Brokaw.
I agree.
Agree all points
My husband and I noticed how much HildaBeast was looking down too.
She got the questions in advance, and was referring to her notes on what to say.
Trump had to think on his feet, one of his best qualities.
I was sorely disappointed Hilda didn’t do a face plant on the floor.
Bttt
And Benghazi.
I have some calligraphy for you.
Tactics.
You know he held back on the dirt, or “left things on the table” as one freeper pointed out.
The media will try to work the polls for Hillary this week.
She said it was her granddaughter’s birthday and mentioned her working class father 3 times....and that smile....it almost loosed my bowels.
I think you nailed it, my FRiend.
Jo. You don’t have any idea what you are talking abot re Laz.
What, they aren't satisfied with your performance there?
