Usually what happens with passenger jets that have reached their maximum cycles (a cycle is one take off and landing) they’re picked up by leasing agents either to be sold or scrapped. When one buys a bizjet as an example they usually do a lease-back where the plane is available to be leased out when the buyer is not using it. This gives some income back to the buyer and the maintenance is done by the lease back org.
