My great grandmother, Mary Breslin, ran a casino in her Hell’s Kitchen apartment (read: dump) into the 1930s! My father became so proficient in card-sharking that he was put to work among the WWII army in finding out the card sharks and cheats. He was a straight arrow who hated gambling and would only teach me basic card-playing. A very decent man who I miss every. single. day.
