Not a popular movie with the Democrats.

Nobody likes to admit it, but they were hard people living in a hard environment.

Our contemporaries love the mythical American Indian, part peaceful Christian saint and part Sierra Club environmentalist.

They would refuse to believe firsthand accounts of Indian behavior, beginning with the 1622 Jamestown Massacre and King Philips War and the atrocities that were commonplace. The squaws often outdid the men for cruelty inflicted on captives.

These were tough people. Sometimes noble, sometimes extremely cruel. Relishing in torturing their enemies. Colonists along the border could be just as rough, but it’s unfair to focus on them alone.
