The fact Samsung managed to get IP68 moisture resistance with the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge phones show that Apple did not need to remove the 3.5 mm headphone jack. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised that the pushback from consumers ends up being so strong that they can’t figure why the iPhone SE and the iPhone 6S/6S Plus models (which will continue in production at a lower rate) are outselling the iPhone 7 models.

Wozniak hasn't invented much of anything since the 1970s. He's stuck in the 70s. Along with analog jacks. He was against many of the things Apple was doing in the early 1980s, so he was sidelined. Not that he wasn't creative, he was genius in what he did... back then.

Woz has not been involved in Apple for thirty years, nor has he really been involved in a successful company in the time he's been away from Apple. When he was at Apple, he was not involved with marketing at all. That was Steve Jobs. Steve Wozniak had to be dragged kicking and screaming into selling what he made.

Apple has provided an umbilical cord for those who want/need to be connected to their ears. It is still there for them. . . and Apple has increased audio listening time extraordinarily, you can listen to audio for 40 hours on the iPhone 7 and 60 hours on the iPhone 7 plus before recharging. With battery times like those, I just don't see why anyone NEEDS to have the iPhone charging at the same time as listening to their earphones! Don't they ever sleep?

Time from no power to a full charge is about an hour. Sheesh.

You mean a learning experience such as Samsung went through between the S6 and the S7?

The S7 brought it back, together with an offer of a free 256GB SD card to buyers of the S7 or S7 Edge. (The S7 comes with 32GB installed). The S7 is also IP68-rated, to reassure the hydrophobic consumer.
