I think w/o the peripherals the Timex/Sinclair was $100. Had a C64 also, then on to a TRS-80 ( & CoCo3 later) with a speedy 300 baud modem. Those old PCs were great for learning BASIC programming on.

I think I got the Timex with the 16K accessory as a package for the $199.

I still have all my old PCs, though the Sinclair is badly damaged inside. Outside looks nice, tho!
Yeah, the accessories added a lot to cost. I got ‘em mostly for the CoCo, which had a slot where you’d slide em in. The voice pac was fun, sounded like Stephen Hawking. Used the 300 baud modem pak for BBS and, later, for Compuserve. Worked good enough for the time.
