This ‘Grease’ conspiracy theory will totally bum you out
New York Post ^ | September 8, 201 | Andrea Morabito

The conspiracy theory, which is being recirculated thanks to a Reddit thread, claims that Sandy, played by Olivia Newton-John, was actually dead, or dying, throughout the entirety of the 1978 movie.

The user, who first posted the theory three years ago, cites the lyrics to the film’s opening number, “Summer Nights,” which says that when Danny (John Travolta) and Sandy first met, he “saved her life, she nearly drowned” — and argues that Sandy actually died on the beach that day.

Another Redditor took things even darker, claiming that Danny was also dead the whole time and made up the name “Sandy” because he met the cute blonde on the beach, and that the movie represents his dying wishes for his final year at Rydell High.

Bubble-gum pablum.

Turn the sound off completely and fast-forward to “Better Shape Up” and just watch.

I guess you could argue that most of the characters in books, films, and television are dead. How could anybody disprove that?

True story and no conspiracy. The bedroom scene, where a picture of Elvis was on the wall, was filmed on August 16, 1977. The day that Elvis died. This is what Sandy was singing:

Elvis, Elvis, let me be
Keep that pelvis far from me

Then in real life, Elvis died.
