Happy Holiday weekend and full of sun Sunday all. Hermine moved off the coast and instead of rain (and ruining my plans to stain the deck) there's sun!
We have a lineup tonight which is very strong. Am awaiting to hear 15min with the Mercury Radio Summer Theatre, when I think of Mercury Radio I think of elaborate hour long programs...Jack Benny, fantastic...then one heck of an hour, which should be the 10pm hour, of Shadow (not played enough) and Suspense...ending with The Campbell Playhouse, never heard of Liliom, am interested...
Hope you enjoy it...

Hi, Vision! I was thinking you might be getting some “weather,” but it sounds nice there. Keith has been running the smoker grill all day, and it just now came a downpour, but it has let up for now. At least we have a patio cover he can wheel the grill under.

Is there a way to download this broadcast in MP3 so I can listen to it on my mobile device?

Thanks. My father was a radio mechanic on Guam in WWII, which he parlayed into a career as a TV tech, then electronics tech for the USN. He decided to retire in the mid-70s because no one was using tubes any more.
I still have, of all things, an electric metronome; it was a Seth Thomas freebie, uses one triode, and still works today—but if the tube ever blew, I have no idea where I could find a new one.
And to bring it back to radio, my mother had a five-tube Emerson “portable” AM radio, meaning one could pick it up and move it from room to room, but it had to be plugged in. By the early 60s the heyday of radio dramas was over, and I never listened to them until we were in Japan and I heard them on FEN.

No, not tonight. I’m making barbecue stuff—potato salad, macaroni and cheese. I thought about making baked beans, but it’s too much. Tomorrow, we’re taking lots of this to where Keith works, so the ladies there who have to work on Labor Day can have a barbecue lunch.
Are you cooking something special for Labor Day weekend?

Your Dad had the now-mostly-lost knowledge, although there are still lots of people “doing” old radios as a hobby today. My husband Logitech is one of them. We have a bunch of old radios that he restores. Last week he found a very rare Musette radio from 1931 or so at an antique store.
He could advise you on where to get a new tube for your metronome. I’m pinging him to this comment.

That's very nice of you.
I'm eating/reheating steaks and making rice. Tonight I threw some salt and garlic cloves in and when done mix in some sour cream and steak seasoning. Love it!
So you both have tomorrow off?
