Is this issue with the trachea something that ALL Poms have or only some of them? Nemo is majority Pom but he has other breeds in him(I think Maltese and some other stuff, basically he’s a Mutt) not sure on his age..he has had the trachea issue for a few years now and you are right, in the summer months is when it can be worse than the winter months. Nemo and Maxie(Maxie is a shih tzu) he stayed with us in Mid May(Both are my sisters dogs but I consider them my babies) when they went to Israel, they were here for 2 1/2 weeks, Nemo never coughed..the issue with Nemo is that when he gets super excited he breathes like crazy, like hyperventilating so of course its harder for the air to go through, gotta give him a doggy prozac or something
I just find it hard to believe that there is nothing that can be done for this, no fix, a procedure, to open the trachea to make it function properly again..when a dog has cancer they give him chemo, and other conditions there are things that can be done, but nothing for the trachea, something that affects many many dogs..there has to be something

It’s a toy breed problem. I hear there is a surgury but it involves inserting a ring on the outside of the trachea. Probably expensive and done only by a specialist. With age ot gets weaker and worse. We use a bronchial dialator medicine which helps some.
