Maybe not contacted. Signaled, perhaps. From what I’ve read of this, the signal is just a spike in strength from a specific star, though granted it’s one that resembles ours pretty closely and has at least one planet orbiting it, which at least makes this more interesting.

So far, no discernible pattern to the signal, and the strength is high enough that only a very advanced civilization could have generated it (Kardashev II; a civilization that has learned to harness the entire output of their home star).
