There is a solid core of Dems who will vote for the nominee, regardless. Recall in 2004, the most dull nominee in the history of nominees almost beat out GWBush. Kerry's list of accomplishments was about as weak as Hillary Clinton's.

This time, there is the ‘Trump factor’. The Media and opposition [Dems and GOPestablishment] have been trying since June of 2015 to figure out what it is. Massive rallies compared to Clinton who can't even fill a small-school gymnasium.

Does that mean anything? Maybe yes. Maybe no. In 2012, Obama seemed to be getting about 1/2 of less of the massive support he got in 2008. He couldn't even fill a college gymnasium. Yet, when the votes were counted, he got enough to leave Romney in the Electoral count dust.

If the pollsters are correct, 2016 is shaping up to be a squeaker reminiscent of 2000. If the pollsters are wrong, it could be the biggest blowout since Reagan-Carter.

[I do hope for the latter. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to hear Wolf Blitzer, shades of the 2010 mid-term, say ‘the Democrat is taking a shellacking.’]

The 2012 election was Romney’s to lose and he did an excellent job of losing it.
