Trump's Weirdo Doctor Uses Windows XP, Which Could Be a Violation of HIPAA

NBC News has a new article about Donald Trumps doctor of 35 years, Dr. Harold Bornsteinthe guy who claimed that Trump, if elected, would be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency. The dude looks like a character from a bad 70s porno flick, but Deadspins Tim Burke spotted something weirder: Dr. Bornstein is using Windows XP. Why does it matter if Dr. Bornstein is using an outdated operating system? Well, it could be a violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Microsoft stopped supporting Windows XP back in 2014 and HIPAA requires doctors to make continued security updates to their systems to protect the privacy of the information they collect on their patients.
Information stored on a computer running Windows XP is potentially at risk and the security community pretty universally regards Windows XP as unsafe at this point. So... best of luck, Mr. Trump?

Get ready folks, here comes the latest stupid meme from the Hillary! camp.
Trump's doctor is not the only one out there still using Windows XP. Lots of places still use it. Single most ridiculous hanger on to XP was the NSA, which, as one can see in http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/videos/welcome-to-the-nsa/, was using XP after Microsoft declared it end of life.

Why would anyone care what this doctor uses on his puter?

His doctor must be doing something right. Trump’s in terrific shape for a 69 year old.
Who cares if he’s a little eccentric.

I’m guessingnXP is compatible with NSA’s spying program so it’s illegal?
To: COBOL2Java
You would think the dooctor did something really crazy like set up an unauthorized server and improperly e-mail top secret information.

What. I’m on XP, too. Too small a target to be a security problem.

Is it air gapped? My cat’s vet still uses XP, but has no connection to the internet.

He probably does not store patient information on it. My last doctor had XP in the office but did reservations in paper binders and all patient information was on paper.

I bet you are right. An exclusive doctor probably has to do that.

I loved XP.
My computer died was the only reason I got a Windows 7 machine.
Fortuitously before they became unavailable.
I will not have 10.

The author makes an assumption not in evidence: He assumes that computer is connected to a network and that network connected to the internet in some unsecure fashion.
Those facts would also have to be true to be an HiPPA violation.

Donald Trump and anyone associated with him must be destroyed.
And their kittens and puppies killed. Normally, liberals hold the lives of cats and dogs in higher esteem than the lives of human babies, but in this instance, the kittens and puppies are probably NAZI kittens and puppies, so it's OK to kill them...

His desktop may be running XP. It doesn’t mean that his server ( where his records are kept) is running XP. Now XP can be used as a vector to attack the server, but that does not necessarily mean the server is insecure.
