Aren’t there more Bahamians than Jamaicans in South Florida? Don’t know how many have been naturalizedmost just moved here.
I’m happy for her.
I have a few pals where I dont know if their moms are citizens!! After like 50 years!!
Just one or two. Chances are that she would be allowed back after a brief deportation but the law is the law and if she doesn’t have a visa or anything, so long!
Can that be possible? An Italian immigrant in her 70s not being legal and being here for like 50 years
Why did she come here in her 80s? Was she needed to do some work citizens can’t do?
More than likely her children were here and she moved in with them as many parents do.
Now that non-Europeans make up the vast majority of immigrants, they can send for their parents and the same government assists them in signing up for the entire spectrum of public assistance from food stamp and section-eight housing assistance to medicaid.
And yet Americans of European descent have to hear & read the propaganda lie of “racism” in response to any mention of controlling even the illegals (overwhelmingly non-European) invading our country.
Talk about intolerable!
You can be a legal permanent resident alien without citizenship. Being a permanent resident alien (i.e. "having a green card") is being in the country legally with no risk of deportation.
Not all permanent legal residents are here because of a work visa. She probably came here on a family visa. One of her kids moved here legally, they wanted mom to join them, so they applied for her and showed they could, and would, financially support her and the USCIS and then the State Department approved her visa and she moved here to be with them.
Well good for her, democrats can now steal her vote and know it was a legitimate citizen when she passes...
There are millions of green card holders who choose not to become US citizens. The Dems are making a huge effort to get them naturalized before the election as they did in 1996. Immigrants vote more than two to one Dem.
Why did she wait so long?
There have been plenty of chances at amnesty including one in the eighties
I have zero sympathy for those who come and refuse to become citizens.....no matter how long they have been here
How did your Italian friend get here? In the sixties it was harder to get in than today
Yes it is
However to them I say become a citizen already....
If you are a green card holder and not making efforts to become a citizen then please go back to whatever country you came from.
There is no requirement to become citizen. You get all the benefits of citizenship with a green card except the right to vote. The US also recognizes dual nationality.
I didn’t say there was.. I was expressing my opinion about what I think of people who come here and don’t become citizens. Frankly I ant them to leave
She waited to become a citizen for many of the reasons people wait. We ran a successful business here in northern Michigan, while my father lived in Detroit. What spurred her on to become a full fledged citizen was the fact that she loathed Bill Clinton and wanted to vote against him. A humorous part of the story was she wasn’t sure she could pass the citizenship part of the entrance test. I assured her she was as Americanized as anyone else taking the test.I used to take her up to Ste. Sault Marie Cananda to ultimately take the test. She passed with flying colors at the age of 69 years old.
