It seems that Starbucks (SBUX) can put as much ice as it wants in your beverage.
A judge in California dismissed a case that accused the coffee chain of under-filling its iced drinks, saying the plaintiff had "not alleged any viable claims" against the company.
"If children have figured out that including ice in a cold beverage decreases the amount of liquid they will receive, the Court has no difficulty concluding that a reasonable consumer would not be deceived into thinking that when they order an iced tea, that the drink they receive will include both ice and tea and that for a given size cup, some portion of the drink will be ice rather than whatever liquid beverage the consumer ordered," wrote Percy Anderson, the U.S. District Judge presiding over the case in his dismissal of the lawsuit last Friday.

You can specify no ice.
That’s why I always request no ice. They are going to dilute the drink anyway, so I’m not going to add to it by getting ice on top.
i ask for a cup of tea and a cup of ice
iced tea, no ice? Good to know.
No ice for me either. Even at home, when I drink from a can or bottle, I use a koozie or freezer mug.
I’ve seen those Yeti tumblers (very pricy!) and saw a review of a Yeti go tumbler on Youtube compared to other less expensive stainless steel tumblers and the Yeti keeps drinks hot or cold longer.
Heck, I sometimes don’t even mind drinking soda at room temperature.
I don’t like ice in most drinks. I drink hot drinks warm, and cold drinks at room temperature.
I find that the pop is usually cold enough for me straight from the fountain, so ice is unnecessary.
Sonic has no problem when I order a Route 44 Limeade with easy ice.
It even displays easy ice on the display. I don’t want 44 oz of ice and 4 ounces of liquid.
Yeti, keeps hot things hot and cold things cold.
But how does it know?
Im on the other end.
My hot drinks are blazing hot and my cold drinks are teeth hurting cold. My dad drinks his beer room temp and his bottled water warm. Crazy!
Ice is okay in iced tea! Imagine that!!!!!?
You do know that you are hated for this by servers everywhere, don't you?
not sure why.
Reminds me of visiting Brit friend who insisted on “no Ice” in McDonald’s because she was convinced she was being short-changed. (Ice in drinks is a scarce commodity in England!)
Because it slows down the service for the other patrons in line.
My philosophy about beer is; if you let your beer get warm, you’re drinking it too slow. LOL
I do tend to let my coffee cool down a bit before taking a drink. I don’t add cool water to my cup of coffee because that waters down the taste. And I drink my coffee black. No cream or sugar.
And then request a cup of ice for free.
“Can you specify only a few pieces of ice?”
I assume so, my brother always asks for “very little ice”, but myself personally I like a lot of ice. This wouldn’t apply to Starbucks, but so many fast food places have unlimited refills that no one has reason to complain.
Not that that’s going to stop ‘em!
