Planned 20 mile flight? or medical emergency landing?

How long does it take to prep and fly a large plane? It is not trivial.
What are the odds they would do all that for a 20 MILE flight. It would cost a fortune too.
So. what seems more likely?
Instead of just driving there they would prepare a flight plan for a 20 mile flight, drive to the airport, load onto the plane, taxi, fly, and land about 3 minutes later...
OR
Her rumored medical condition flared up during flight so they immediately landed?
The condition she is rumored to have is one that is supposed to prohibit flying, unless you want to die. The change in altitude and plood pressure can be fatal.

I would imagine it would not take long to prep a 737 size plane for a flight. After the last flight, they likely addressed any issues, topped off any hydraulics or lubricants, and made sure there were no outstanding issues. They might even top off the fuel depending on how they manage that. I imagine it could be ready to go in 15 min.
The flight plan, however might be another thing. Pilots would have to answer that...how long it takes to file one, etc.

The only reasons for flying 20 miles:
1. There are no roads.
2. you are flying over enemy occupied territory to get to the other side.

I was only a jet mech in my former life, and that was single seaters, but...I can’t imagine the process is much different in many respects.

If that is the case, they were probably only waiting on the pilots for anything.

She went from Martha's Vineyard to Nantucket. If she tried to drive it she'd drown. She wouldn't drown. She has a guardian angel in those waters.

Yeah, where is fatal when you need it?

OK, I didn’t know what flight we were talking about, but if that was the trip, yeah, I can see flying.
HA!

But it fits one of my two scenarios: There are no roads.

But it fits one of my two scenarios: There are no roads. It's Massachusetts. Not hostile territory for her. That's the second one.

LOL, now that made me laugh.
It was tragic, but I am guessing Swimmer Ted is a lot warmer now than he was that night on Chappaquiddick...
