The only groups I hate more than the red cross are United Way and the Salvation Army. Our corporate does yearly United Way Drives, and I unapologetically refuse to participate

So did my husband. He was the only hold out in the United Way drive. His boss donated in his name so the department would have 100% participation.

I have my own horror story of dealing with the Sa!action Army and to this day would never putty one penny in their buckets.

You are wrong. They are from top down mostly volunteers, much more than than others. Another good charity is Fisher House (A+ rating on most charity reviews). The problem is there are so many sites that claim to have the ultimate ranking list and so many conflict. After some research, I found that many of the sites were about liberal projects.
