You all should go to a ballroom dance. They have the air conditioning set to a very comfortable level. Out come all the shawls. The club president turns on the frickin’ heat. By the time the DJ plays the first song, it’s a sauna. The humidity makes the wood floor sticky, and it takes hours to get that junk off your shoe soles when you get home.
Perhaps a bit TOO much information there? And just when I was considering taking up ballroom dancing...LOL!
I played a gig just like that. It was at a yacht club and yes - they had highly waxed and very old wood dance floor.
When someone turned the heat up I sought out my facilities contact and asked her to turn it back down. She declined saying it was for the comfort of her guests.
So I had my girlfriend run out to the store and buy four oscillating fans which we placed on stage facing the band. It didn’t take them long to see their error but once the room was too hot it stayed too hot. With the fans it was tolerable for us.
