You should Vendome’s 2016 version.
Amazing!
Nothing but love for Frank Sinatra!
Nelson/Riddle/Capitol Records Ping...
The definitive performer of a great Canadian written song. Thank you Paul Anka.
Why DID I buy those blue pajamas?
for Wed. Nov. 9, 2016
Paul Anka wrote the song.
Here’s his version of it...

There will never be another Frank!
Wish we had someone today with a 10th of his talent.
Sinatra’s musical tribute to hubris is not my favorite. (Could also have been titled “The Ballad of Adam” in honor of that bit of unfortunate self-reliance.)
I saw Paul sing it on Carson’s Tonight Show decades ago.
By far the BEST rendition ever, IMO. I was amazed at his performance, and it wasn’t ‘till he sat down that I learned he had written it.
Turns out David Bowie almost was the one who wrote the lyrics:
In 1968, Bowie wrote the lyrics “Even a Fool Learns to Love”, set to the music of a 1967 French song “Comme d’habitude”, composed by Claude François and Jacques Revaux. Bowie’s version was never released, but Paul Anka bought the rights to the original French version and rewrote it into “My Way”, the song made famous by Frank Sinatra in a 1969 recording on his album of the same name. The success of the Anka version prompted Bowie to write “Life on Mars?” as a parody of Sinatra’s recording
I like Anka’s version also, I’ve heard him perform it a few times.
I never cared for the song, honestly. Sinatra’s version is maudlin and pretty much self parody.
Truthfully, Elvis’s rendition is much better than Sinatra’s, and is my favorite version.
And then, there’s Sid Vicious’ version

It’s played during the closing credits of Goodfellas.
Perhaps it is just the years playing tricks with my memory, but the version in Post #8 doesn’t hold a candle to Anka’s performance that night on the Carson show.
Just a shame that he ended being such a dick with his tell-all WRT Annette Funicello
“Nelson/Riddle/Capitol Records Ping...”
His best days IMHO,and also my husband’s opinion-———we were HUGE fans.
.
Wow, you’re right. He was a jerk.
Here he is singing the song to Soviet president Gorbachev. I didn’t even bother to listen to it.
