On Monday's New Day on CNN, during a discussion of the FBI turning over notes on Hillary Clinton's email server testimony to Congress, and whether GOP candidate Donald Trump will manage to successfully use the email issue against her, CNN co-host Chris Cuomo at one point complained about Trump accusing the media of bias against him as the CNN anchor declared that the GOP candidate was "made in large part by the amount of attention he got from the media."
The New Day co-host went on to recall that "We've juiced him to get into this race because we thought it would be exciting, he was given a pass on a lot of the stuff that came out of his mouth early on," before sarcastically adding, "and now he's a victim of the press."
At about 6:20 ET, as the group discussed a Monmouth University poll finding most Americans believe Clinton has been dishonest about her email server, but that most are "tired" of hearing about it from the media, CNN political commentator Errol Louis declared:
As far as the Trump campaign, again, those numbers suggest to me that voters are making up their minds. They hear this. When you see these numbers about honest and trustworthy, about Hillary Clinton, it means people are absorbing the report, you know, I mean, a lot of the reporting about Cheryl Mills, about some of these connections between the State Department and whether or not they were supposed to be involved in Clinton Foundation activities. This stuff is being reported.
He then added:
Ad Feedback I think we are doing what we, as the media collectively, are supposed to do. We are telling people about this. The polls are now giving us the feedback saying, "We hear you. We don't need to hear much more about this. We've made our decision." And, you know, it's up to the Trump campaign to try and exploit that politically-
After the Daily Beast's Jackie Kucinich injected, " I don't think they'll be able to do that," Louis added:
Well, I think they've got it. I mean, they've got it. They've got the complaints. They've got a populous voting public that sees that she's got some ethical issues. People get it. That doesn't necessarily translate into votes for Trump here again because they've got to explain what they would do different-
Cuomo then jumped in:
Instead of doing that, he's doubling up. He's saying, "I'm not going to get into the 'here's why I'm better part.' I'm getting into the 'you're worse.'" He's coming after the media and saying the reason that Hillary Clinton isn't going down is because of the media. "The reason that I'm in trouble, the polls are slipping is because of the media. It's not me, it's how they cover me."
The CNN host then added:
This is an odd turn for a guy who's been made in large part by the amount of attention he got from the media, most of it not negative in the early days. We've juiced him to get into this race because we thought it would be exciting, he was given a pass on a lot of the stuff that came out of his mouth early on, and now he's a victim of the press.
Price Cuomo got juiced because of who his dad is. Queen Hillary got juiced cause of who her husband is.
Yeah, you wish, punk.
actually it was the crowds that ‘juiced’ Trump
Cumo is working as part of Hillary’s plan to bring the never Trumpers on her side. His repeating Ted Cruz’s talking points.
BTW, Trump is still getting billions in free press, but media is lying and making things up instead of reporting. Trump has to beat or bipass them to win.
What are you talking about? Where do you get this? Did you get this from the same media lying media? The only thing they're destroying and humiliating is what's left of their reputation.
Come on.
“Now Trump is the nominee, and so far hes being destroyed and humiliated at every turn.”
Ah, a concerned troll comment. For a guy “being destroyed” Trump’s campaign is looking very solid. He’s within the margin of error in the meaningless polls. Thousands of people come to his rallies all over the nation. He dominates the news cycle & he hasn’t spent a penny on TV advertising. He’s laying out some amazing policy plans. Maybe you should ask your GOPe paymasters for a better talking point, k?
Vote Trump 2016
If the media made Trump (they sure had a part in it), the media can break Trump.
And that’s what we see being attempted right now.
Will they succeed? Plenty of Republicans are on their team.......
And Trump is doing his own part to self-destruct - but finally making good moves on substantial policy speeches......
Time will tell.........
So the media believes they gave Trump a pass and gave him the white glove treatment (they did not) they can now vilify him and take him out. The media and GOPe can go to Hades.
I’ve spent too many election cycles listening to people tell me that the Republican candidate is doing better than the polls say.
Bush in 92 underperformed
Dole in 96 underperformed
Bush in 00 underperformed
HEY WE OUTPERFORMED SOME POLLS IN 04!
McCain 08 underperformed
Romney in 12 underperformed
Thanks for sharing your “concerns”. As I stated earlier, these polls in August are MEANINGLESS!
Vote Trump 2016
Cuomo is vindictive obnoxious and rude. Look at this desperate recent interviews. Guiliani has to verbally knock sense into him. He talks OVER HIS OWN GUESTS to push the left wing agenda. (he acts like a militant alternative lifestyle activist)
Just because HE/his producer did not take trump seriously, does not mean anything else in the real world. Jeb did not take him seriously either.
Do you know the other meaning of MSM?
He has a point.
If the MSM hadn’t been operating as the PR arm of an insane Democratic party for the last five or so decades; we probably would have never gotten to the point of where we needed a Trump to correct the course of the nation.
Methylsulfonylmethane.
But we’re not talking about Methylsulfonylmethane...lol
