Word For The Day, Monday, August 15, 2016 whigmaleerie
good morning, a bit late but oh well!
i am attempting to refinish a bookcase for Gord’s room. it is painted white and i want to repaint it white, but it is a bit beat up. Can anyone offer me any tips as i have NEVER done anything like this in my life. i have a sandpaper block, primer, paint and paintbrushes. How far down to the bare do you have to sand? and is it true as the guy told me at home depot that you either sand OR use primer, no need to do both?
BJ wants to be the First Laddie and Huma the First Whigmaleerie.
did you hear huma’s hubby has been at the sexting again???? A+++
All the punditry class thought Trump’s presidential announcement was a whigmaleerie ....................
A+++ well, i hope to God they are proven wrong, but he sure better get focused and stop with the stupid crap. if he was trying to lose i wonder what he would do differently! he kept pointing to the polls, well he no longer has those in his favor so he better buckle down!
Use stripper to get to the ‘bare wood’.
Wear gloves and do it outside on newspapers.
Only a light sanding is necessary if the finish is still good.
I once stripped a desk I found in a dumpster that was painted brown all over.
After stripping it, I found it had a beautiful OAK base under all that paint and just stained it honey oak and still have it today, 30 years later................
The pundits all seem to have a theory
The general is different than the primary
They go to great pains
To say Trump should change
But I think most are just a whigmaleerie
what do you mean stripper? the chemical stuff? you put it on, wait and then what? xshub tried to use something to peel it off and it was taking up wood with it, so we stopped that. a friend of mine found this out at the curb in her neighborhood, it’s real wood, not particleboard. my daughter doesn’t want to spend a lot of $ on something for my grandson’s room, so FREE fit the bill. i would like to get this done for them this week for when they get back from the beach on Sunday.
how do i know when i am down far enough? the paint was not thick on this and i get the feeling it was unfinished and just painted by the previous owner bc the back is unfinished as are the undersides of the shelves. no coating or seal on it either.
I don’t know about whigmaleerie, but on the front of wigmaleerie, is it good or bad that they have stopped discussing Trump’s trademark hair?
A+++ well if the polls were showing him ahead or at least close i’d say ok, but dang, staying the course when he’s dropping and we are two weeks out from labor day, i don’t know. he needs to stop saying stupid $HIT! that was my concern all along, that he couldn’t and thus far he has not been able to. She has him dead to rights on the thin skinned bit, he simply CANNOT shut up and just focus. at least so far. i hope he proves me wrong.
Is the existing paint oil based or a latex? If you don’t remove all the paint but just sand it smooth you will want to use the same base for the new paint.
he’s given them far more ammo to discuss so they are no longer LEERY of his WIG! A+++ that was a clever one!
i don’t think it’s oil based, but how would i tell? it’s a simple child’s bookcase, what would the norm be?
hahaha! A+++ she is a mess and she is far more hair-challenged than he is. i saw her giving a speech recently with her hair flat to her skull. lady, you have more $ than God, you can have a stylist working on you 24-7, flat hair on you is ridic.
Winning the stupid demographic may be enough in this dumbed down society.
Get some Home Formby’s paint stripper, about $12 at Lowes’.
You apply it with a brush, let it sit for an hour or so, then use a spatula/paint scraper to scrape the residue off the wood, being careful not to gouge the wood in the process.
Don’t be impatient! let the stuff do its job!
If there is any molding or fancy wood carving with paint, a dental type pick may be necessary to get at the paint in the crevices.
If the wood is pine or other soft wood, then it won’t have a ‘grain’ worth saving and you should just paint the wood after a light sanding...............
not against furious fraud, and you know there will be. they will leave nothing to chance.
